Trickin' My Baby Out

Bought a new accessory for my baby Holga at the Lomography sale today after work!

A super cool ringflash with all the color gels to enhance my photos. They're especially good for fashion photography as the flash really lights up the subject perfectly removing flaws... had to have it!

Didn't hurt that it was 25% off.

I also picked up a cute 6x6 frame at 50% off, which is perfect for my 6x6 photos!

Recession Chic DIY

Alright, I was sort of jealous of Waylon's swim trunks he commissioned me to make, so I went ahead and made my own pair.

I was feeling crafty as it was the night of Project Runway All Stars which featured my friend Daniel Vosovic (who WON!!!) and I had just bought the September Issue of Vogue.

I trekked down to Chinatown, found a random grocery/stuff store and bought for a astronomical $2, a new woven shopping/laundry bag.

It's so fast and easy, I started by seam-ripping the bag...

in order to get the bag in its original flat pieces to plan how to lay and cut the pattern pieces.

Once desired positioning is established, cut, sew and add the elasticated waistband.

and Voila, another pair of recession friendly swim-trunks!

He Won!

Congrats Daniel!

Woot

La La La Lola

Thanks Guest of a Guest

As Per Waylon's Request

My dear friend and boss Waylon asked me to make him a new bathing suit, easy enough but there was a catch, he wanted it made out of a Chinatown shopping bag.

Not one to turn down a challenge, I accepted.

So today he brought me a shopping bag and an old bathing suit he doesn't wear anymore to use for its lining.

A couple hours later I went from this... One China Town Shopping/Laundry Bag

To This... A fully lined, elastic waist-banded bathing suit.

I left the straps across the front (just for fun), used the zipper pieces as trim on the side seams and added the binding to the leg hems.

Not bad if I do say so myself.

I just love it, from its big gilded gold buttons down to it's cuffed pirate-esque sleeves! Now I just have to find the perfect time for its debut! A perfect time in the fall as it's 100% Wool and way too hot out to wear now!
